Huffman Marine Surveys

Pre-Bid Inspections

More and more recreational vessels are becoming available at auction. Stolen recoveries, storm-damaged and insurance-totaled vessels, as well as bank repossessions are available through auctions. More than ever, it is a buyer's market. And many auction-buyers find they are more comfortable making their bid after inspection by an independent, knowledgeable professional. In response to this demand, we now offer a service through which the surveyor boards the boat and makes a preliminary inspection to determine its big-picture condition. A formal written report is not included; debriefing takes place by phone, and a set of relevant photos are sent to you via email. Should you then purchase the vessel, a portion of the inspection fee will be applied to the cost of the full condition/value survey that might be necessary for financing, insurance, etc.

We are conveniently located in Fort Lauderdale, near both National Liquidators and USAuctions. We understand the frustration that would be felt by an auction-bidder after paying for a full survey and then being out-bid, and are offering this service as a reasonably-priced option that will provide information helpful for making an intelligent offer, without a big upfront financial commitment. We can typically accommodate short notice requests.

Please note, we are an independent organization, providing service for our clients. We are not affiliated with any boat auction enterprises, including those mentioned on this page. Please contact us for more information.
