About Dave

Dave is an experienced, NAMS-certified marine surveyor (NAMS-CMS). His additional certifications, licenses, and training add to the breadth and diversity of his experience. Before becoming a marine surveyor, Dave was the general manager of a full service boat yard in Fort Lauderdale. Prior to that, he had a twenty year career as a professional captain. He worked on yachts, work boats, and private vessels, both power and sail. He has been licensed as a captain by the US Coast Guard since 1979.

Dave's experience includes extensive time on a variety of vessels. He has accumulated an estimated 200,000 miles at sea, including transatlantic passages (in both directions, as well as under pure sail) and Panama canal transits. He continues to log cruising miles annually. Dave is a certified diver, a light aircraft pilot, and owns both power and sail boats. He also volunteers time to the American Malinois Rescue Association and takes in foster dogs who need of special care and temporary homes.

Dave is located in Florida and is available on short notice to work with new and existing clients throughout the state. He travels routinely to the Caribbean, as well as to Mexico and Central America. He is available for assignments anywhere in the U.S. and Europe, and in most other locations worldwide.
